How the result moves

How do you calculate the area of a hexagon?

Multiply the side squared by 3√3 and halve it. A side of 6 gives 54√3, about 93.53 square units.

Why six equilateral triangles?

Lines from the centre to the six corners cut the hexagon into six triangles, each with all sides equal to s. Six times s²√3 ÷ 4 is 3s²√3 ÷ 2.

What are the two diagonals?

The long diagonal, corner to opposite corner, is 2s. The short one, corner to next-but-one, is s√3.

What is the apothem?
