What is the difference between lbf·ft and lbf·in?

Both are US customary torque units; the lever arm is a foot in one and an inch in the other, so 1 lbf·ft = 12 lbf·in exactly. Small fasteners — bike parts, electronics, optics — are specced in pound-inches to keep the numbers manageable. Engine and chassis bolts use pound-feet.

What is a kilogram-force metre?

Is torque the same as energy because both use newton-metres?
