Result: 212.00Temperature is the one conversion a plain factor cannot do: each scale has a different degree size and a different zero point. So 0 °C is 32 °F, not 0 °F, and 100 °C is 212 °F. Celsius and Fahrenheit agree at exactly one temperature, -40°, which is the quickest way to check any conversion.
| Unit | Symbol | One unit in K | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Degree Celsius | °C | 274.15 | Everyday temperature in most of the world |
| Degree Fahrenheit | °F | 255.927777778 | Everyday temperature in the US |
| Kelvin | K | 1 | SI base unit, starting at absolute zero |
These are not multipliers: this conversion shifts as well as scales, so one unit expressed in the base does not scale up. Use the converter above.

Multiply the Celsius figure by 9/5 and add 32. For example 100 × 9/5 + 32 = 212 °F, the boiling point of water. To go the other way, subtract 32 first and then multiply by 5/9.
No — 0 °C is 32 °F. Conversion between the two is affine: each scale has both a different degree size and a different zero point, so they never line up at zero. They agree at exactly one temperature, -40°, where -40 °C equals -40 °F.
Absolute zero is the lowest temperature there is, the point of minimal particle motion. It is 0 K, which is -273.15 °C or -459.67 °F. Because the Kelvin scale starts there, a Kelvin figure can never be negative.
Add 273.15 to the Celsius figure. A kelvin is exactly the same size as a Celsius degree, so only the zero point moves: 0 °C is 273.15 K and 100 °C is 373.15 K.
