EVE Online Broker Fee and Sales Tax Calculator

Result

105,000.00ISK

Result: 105,000.00 ISK

A completed market sale in an NPC station pays twice: a broker fee when the order goes up and sales tax when it sells. Untrained that is 3 % plus 7.5 % — 105,000 ISK on a one-million-ISK sale. Broker Relations V and Accounting V cut it to 48,750 ISK. The broker fee is never below 100 ISK.

How it's calculated

Fee = max(100 ISK, price × broker %) + price × sales tax %

  1. StepEnter what the order is worth — the price you are asking for the whole stack.
  2. StepSet Broker Relations and Accounting; both are trained from 0 to 5.
  3. StepAdd your unmodified faction and corporation standing with the station owner.
  4. ResultThe result is both charges together: broker fee on listing plus sales tax on the sale.

What this number means

Selling on the EVE market costs two separate charges. The broker fee is taken when the order is created, as a percentage of the whole order value, and it is not refunded if the order expires. Sales tax is taken from the proceeds when the order fills. Only a completed sale pays both, which is what this page adds up. Each charge is reduced by a different skill. Broker Relations takes 0.3 percentage points off the broker fee per level, so the base 3 % falls to 1.5 % at level five. Unmodified faction and corporation standing with the station owner take a further 0.03 and 0.02 points per standing point, which is how the fee reaches its practical floor of 1 %. Accounting works multiplicatively instead: 11 % off the sales tax per level, leaving 3.375 % of the 7.5 % base at level five. One rule overrides all of this at the low end. No broker fee is ever below 100 ISK, so an order worth less than roughly 3,300 ISK pays that flat amount rather than a percentage — the reason small items move in stacks.

Two charges, two moments

The broker fee is taken when the order is created and is gone even if nobody ever buys. Sales tax follows only when the order fills, so this total is what a completed sale costs (rates as checked 2026-08-29).

The 100 ISK floor eats small orders

No broker fee is ever below 100 ISK, whatever the percentage gives. On a 100 ISK sale the fee alone exceeds the price, which is why cheap items are moved in stacks, not one at a time.

What lands in your wallet

Subtract this figure from the sale price to get your net proceeds. A one-million-ISK sale with no skills leaves 895,000 ISK; with Broker Relations V and Accounting V it leaves 951,250 ISK.

Player wiki, not a CCP statement

The rates, the two formulas and the 100 ISK floor come from the EVE University Wiki, a player-run source, checked on 2026-08-29. CCP changes market rates by patch — the 7.5 % sales tax itself dates from the March 2025 update — so check before trusting an exact figure.

Commonly misread

I only pay when the item actually sells.

The broker fee is charged the moment the order goes up. Cancel or let it expire and that ISK is still spent.

Accounting V removes the sales tax, so trading gets almost free.

Each level takes 11 % off the tax, not 11 percentage points. Level V leaves 3.375 %, which is still nearly half the base rate.

Standings do not matter, only skills do.

Faction and corporation standing lower the broker fee by 0.03 and 0.02 percentage points per point. At maximum they take a further 0.5 points off.

The same rates apply in a player-owned structure.

There the owner sets the broker fee and skills have no effect on it. This calculator only covers NPC stations.

Questions

How much is the broker fee in EVE Online?

In an NPC station it starts at 3 % of the order value and drops by 0.3 percentage points for every level of Broker Relations, plus a little more for faction and corporation standing. With Broker Relations V and maximum standings it reaches 1 %. It is never less than 100 ISK per order.

How much is sales tax and can I reduce it?

The base rate is 7.5 % of the sale price. The Accounting skill cuts that by 11 % per level, so Accounting V leaves 3.375 %. Standings and structures have no effect on sales tax.

Do I pay the broker fee if my order never sells?

Yes. The fee is charged when the order is created and is not refunded when the order expires or is cancelled. Only sales tax depends on the item actually selling.

Why is the fee on a cheap item so large?

Because every order carries a minimum broker fee of 100 ISK. On anything worth less than about 3,300 ISK that floor is higher than the percentage would be. Selling in stacks rather than single units is the usual answer.

Do these numbers apply to player-owned structures?

No. In a player structure the owner sets the broker fee directly and trading skills do not reduce it. Sales tax still applies as normal.

Are immediate orders charged a broker fee?

No. Selling straight into an existing buy order costs no broker fee, because no order is created. Sales tax is still deducted from the proceeds.
